We are starting to see new season mandarins in the market and what a treat they are! Packed full of sweet, tangy citrus flavour, mandarins are the perfect addition for school lunch boxes offering an easy to peel and healthy snack.  Packed full of vitamin C, mandarins helps promote a healthy immune system to prevent colds in the winter months which the whole family can enjoy.  Be sure to look out for these sweet, juicy treats at your local fruit and veg store.


South Australian celeriac has started to come into season.  This root vegetable, closely related to celery, is super diverse and can be enjoyed in different ways. Try it raw for great crunch with a nutty, earthy celery-like flavour which is perfect for salads and slaws or cook it similar to potatoes for a slightly sweet taste that’s great mashed, baked, roasted or boiled.

Red Oak lettuce

If you are looking for variety in your salads, Red Oak lettuce is in supply and is known for its incredibly sweet and mellow flavor with a buttery texture.  With burgundy coloured leaves, the Red Oak presents beautifully in salads, wraps or garnish.  Boasting the highest amount of iron amongst all lettuces, and also packed with vitamin C and A, it provides fibre, folate and minerals to your meals.  Be sure to enjoy this vibrant lettuce in your salads.

Baby Spinach

Although baby spinach is grown all year round, this is your friendly reminder to continue to enjoy it! If you’re not a huge fan of the bitter taste that regular spinach has, then you may like the sweeter taste of baby spinach. This versatile leafy green is a great immunity booster, which is handy for the oncoming flu season. It’s also a great source of iron and aid in improving gastrointestinal heath.  Be sure to add them to your salads, pastas, stir-fry, wraps or pizzas.
