South Australian Citrus

The South Australian Citrus Season Has Officially Begun! We officially launched the 2026 South Australian citrus season, which means an abundance of fresh, locally grown citrus is now making its way into your favourite fruit and veg stores. This week at the markets we’re seeing beautiful, flavour-packed lemons, navel oranges, limes and mandarins bursting with colour and freshness straight from the orchard. Whether you’re cooking, baking, adding a zesty touch to salads, creating delicious desserts, or simply enjoying a fresh piece of fruit, there are endless ways to enjoy citrus this season. Packed with flavour and vitamin C, citrus is a delicious way to support your health through the cooler months. Looking for inspiration? Swedes

Swedes are perfect for your comforting meals right now. Often mistaken for turnips, swedes have a sweeter, nuttier flavour and a dense texture that becomes beautifully soft when cooked. They’re perfect for roasting, mashing, adding to soups, stews and casseroles, or even tossing through a hearty winter roast. Not only are they versatile and delicious, but they’re also a great source of fibre and vitamin C. Did you know swedes are a cross between a cabbage and a turnip?

Leeks

Leeks are looking fantastic right now! As the cooler weather settles in, there’s no better time to add leeks to your favourite soups, frittatas, pies and hearty home-cooked meals. Their mild, sweet onion flavour makes them incredibly versatile and easy to pair with a wide range of ingredients, adding depth and flavour without overpowering a dish. Not only are they delicious, but they’re also packed with goodness, providing vitamins K, B6, C, E and A, along with magnesium, calcium and omega-3 fatty acids. If you’re looking to add extra flavour and nutrition to your winter cooking, be sure to pop some leeks into your basket this week.

Parsnips

Parsnips are shining this season! Grown locally in Adelaide’s Northern Plains, these versatile root vegetables are a winter favourite and the perfect addition to hearty soups, stews and Sunday roasts. Often mistaken for white carrots, parsnips have a naturally sweet, nutty flavour that becomes even more delicious when roasted, bringing out their caramelised goodness. Fun fact: before sugarcane became widely available in Europe, parsnips were commonly used as a natural sweetener in cakes, desserts and preserves. With great local supply available right now, there’s never been a better time to pick up some fresh parsnips and add them to your weekly shop.
