Buying and eating in season produce is good for your nutrition and helps the economy, our seasonal updates are here to lend a hand.

Let us inspire you with just a few of the fresh, locally grown produce now in season at the South Australia Produce Market that you will find at your local fruit and veg store.

CARROTS

Carrots aren’t just a healthy snack, they’re also a festive treat for Santa’s reindeers! Nicols Carrots has donated 15,000 locally grown carrots for kids attending Santa’s Wonderland, running from November 29 to December 24. Each child can take home a carrot to leave out for Santa’s helpers on Christmas Eve, spreading cheer while supporting SA farmers!

YELLOW PEACHES

South Australian stone fruits are well and truly in season, with fresh deliveries arriving daily at the produce markets from the Riverland. Yellow peaches in particular are bursting with flavour and versatility. Perfectly sweet and juicy, they’re ideal for adding a touch of summer to fruit platters, enhancing desserts with their rich taste, or bringing a refreshing twist to your salads.

BASIL

Locally grown in the northern Adelaide Plains, the unmistakable aroma of fresh basil is a timeless delight. Ideal for summer entertaining, it pairs beautifully with Roma tomatoes and bocconcini for a classic, refreshing salad. For a creative twist, try adding basil to strawberry desserts, it’s a surprisingly perfect match for sweet dishes. Beyond its culinary appeal, basil offers impressive health benefits. With anti-inflammatory properties, it may help reduce the risk of conditions like arthritis and heart disease, while its natural oils are known for their antibacterial qualities.

STRAWBERRIES

Treat yourself to the irresistible sweetness of strawberries, freshly grown in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills! These vibrant berries are bursting with flavor—perfect for enjoying in so many ways. Indulge in them fresh, dip them in chocolate for a decadent treat, or add a splash of sweetness to your favorite Friday night cocktail. However you enjoy them, Adelaide Hills strawberries are a taste sensation you won’t want to miss!
